About Museroll
Sources and rights
See how Museroll reviews Met and Cleveland museum references, checks current image rights, and links each artwork to its original source.
Current collection sources
Museroll uses reviewed references from the Cleveland Museum of Art and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Each card identifies its source, creator, title, date, and rights when supplied. Images load directly from the museum, rather than from copies stored by Museroll.
Rights checks
Artist tags and reference choices are individually reviewed. The backend queries the museum APIs for current image links and rights, caching successful checks in memory for up to five minutes. A reference is excluded if its rights are unsupported or unclear, or if its source or reviewed image identity has changed. An expired check is not used when a museum is unavailable.
Cleveland references require share_license_status=CC0 and no copyright restriction. Met references require isPublicDomain=true and no conflicting rights statement. Only the reviewed web image or primary image is used. These museum Open Access programs publish qualifying images under CC0.
Using a reference
Use the card’s rights panel as the item-specific record. It links to the original source and the governing license/policy. A general description on this page is not a substitute for that item-level information or for independent legal advice.
Corrections and withdrawals
To report a concern, email ilya.pakhomov1010@gmail.com with the reference title, source link, and relevant evidence. Museroll can disable a reference in its curated metadata and redeploy the backend. Museums control their own images and caches.
